Big Mac Pizza Recipe: Easy, Delicious, and Amazing

When it comes to a Big Mac pizza recipe, there are a few different ways to make this American delicacy. Here, we share our secrets on making one of Mortadella Head’s most popular pizza recipes, and what makes it so close to the original McDonald’s burger recipe.

Back when I first started working for Mortadella Head, I was commuting into the restaurant a few times a week to create content.

Naturally, spending long days on the road, I would get really hungry.

Now as you all know by now, I am Italian American. Look at my name, it’s written all over me. But despite living and working among some of the best Italian American cuisine, sometimes the American in me takes over.

And I end up craving huge, juicy, American delicacies. Like the McDonald’s signature classic: The Big Mac.

Of course, there was absolutely no way to satisfy my guilty pleasure and get my hands on one on this particular spring day. There aren’t many McDonald’s restaurants around the shop (as there shouldn’t be!), and Mortadella Head didn’t sell anything close to the American staple; we’re a pizza shop, after all.

Or so I thought.

Right in the middle of the pizza window, there it was, just looking at me:

The Pig Mac.”

And the rest was history.

I didn’t realize that Mortadella Head carried their own cheeseburger pizza, but how could they not? Think about it—it’s all the toppings that everyone loves, including the special sauce; but instead of on a burger, this Big Mac recipe is on a gorgeous Roman pizza Bianca.

Sold.

Today, I’m going to show you how my bosses make this thing of beauty every day at the shop, so you can make the flavors of a Big Mac on a pizza for yourself at home.

Whether it’s for a pizza night at home, an appetizer for a party, or a midnight snack, this is surprisingly a really easy ground beef dinner recipe, and one of my personal favorite homemade pizza recipes there is.

*Disclaimer: We make this using our Roman pizza dough, but you can make this using any store bought or homemade pizza dough that you would like.

Here’s What You Need:

Pizza dough of your choice: We use our Roman pizza dough, but you can use anything you’d like.

Tomato Sauce: We like to cook some crushed tomatoes low and slow for a few hours with some salt and pepper.

American Cheese: You can also use mozzarella cheese, but American cheese is more authentic to the original Big Mac.

White Onion: If you’re not cooking this directly with your ground beef, you should caramelize the onion low and slow for about a half hour. This will really make a difference.

Dill Pickles: For best results, toss these on at the end.

Lean Ground Beef: Brown ground beef beforehand! You can also use ground turkey.

Tomato: Dice this beforehand, and top the pizza with it once it’s out of the oven.

Shredded Iceberg Lettuce: Seasoned with salt and pepper!

Homemade Big Mac Sauce: A.K.A. thousand island dressing.

Big Mac Pizza FAQs

Q: Is Big Mac Pizza keto?

Q: Can I make this pizza in advance?
A: Absolutely! Just make sure to withhold the lettuce and dressing until you are about to eat it.
