If you recently got a delivery of Mortadella Head’s frozen pizza I guarantee you’ll love it. I always get a little bit too excited when I think about how good this frozen pizza is.
At first I didn’t think selling a frozen pizza was a good idea. I didn’t want to compromise the high quality pizza we make at Mortadella Head.
Our frozen pizza is made the same way we make it at the restaurant. It’s a style of Roman pizza known as “al taglio” or pizza by the slice in English.
Since this type of pizza is made to be cut into slices, you better know how to slice it!
But don’t worry…it’s easy.
What to Expect When You Receive our Frozen Pizza
When the pizza arrives at the house it will be in a box with an insulated liner. Inside of the liner you’ll find some gel packs. The gel packs and the pizza may or may not be frozen upon arrival. They should be cold to the touch.
When you take the pizza out of the box you should immediately store it in your freezer for the best results.
The good news is that you’ll have authentic Roman style pizza at your fingertips the next time you have a craving for great pizza.
You’ll notice that this pizza is different from most frozen pizzas out there. It’s more of a thick-crust pizza. But the pizza crust is not dense and heavy like Sicilian style pizza which is also a thicker pizza.
It’s a crust that is light, airy and crunchy.
I’ve been told by a lot of thin crust pizza lovers that our Roman pizza is the only thick crust pizza they’ll eat. They say it is actually lighter than most thin-crust pizza.`
People also say that our frozen food is the perfect gift for just about any occasion. It’s one of the best ways to show someone you’re thinking about them.

Each one of our frozen pizzas serves 3 adults. They can be cut into six equal slices.
If you are serving kids, you could cut the pizza pie into 8 smaller pieces.

When you cook the frozen pizza at home all you have to do is follow the instructions. There’s no fancy equipment needed to make this pizza. You can put pizza right on the oven rack.
If you have a pizza stone at home even better, but you don’t need one.
Now…if you end up getting our frozen pizza and you want to be able to cut the perfect slices…follow along. There are a few ways to do it for the perfect cut.
Pizza Cutter
You can cut our pizza with a wheel-shaped pizza cutter. This is the traditional pizza cutter that you see used in most pizza shops.
These wheel-style pizza cutters are pretty easy to use. The important thing is that you use a sharp pizza cutter so it cuts all the way through.
A common one you can buy is the Oxo Good Grips Pizza Wheel. It’s not the best pizza cutter on the market, but it does the trick at home.
The handheld pizza cutters are fun to use as long as you don’t have a dull blade. Make sure the blade is sharp enough to cut through the pizza.
Knife
Not everyone has a pizza cutter in their kitchen drawer, and that’s ok. A sharp knife and a cutting board will also do the trick.
I have cut many pizzas with a chef’s knife and it worked just fine. A chef’s knife is a good choice because it has a long blade.
I always make sure my knife has a super-sharp blade.
Just push down hard with a firm grip until you feel it go through the crust.
Scissors
A pair of scissors is how I like to cut my pizza. It’s actually the way this type of Roman pizza should be cut.
When we went to Rome to learn how to make this style of pizza, Gabriele Bonci told us we should be using scissors. He said it will protect the air pockets of the pizza. He said pizza cutter will flatten the airy crust.
You don’t need special pizza scissors either. A pair of kitchen shears is just fine. As long as they have sharp edges they work great.
If you are going to buy kitchen scissors you should get some with a comfortable handle and stainless steel blades. Stainless steel makes for easy cleaning.
