fun winter snack ideas

With winter here, the weather is cold; it’s snowy and raw. All you want to do when you come home from school or work is have something warm to warm you up from the cold day.

I have put together some of my favorite winter snacks you can have on a snow day or even during the colder months. Some of these are healthy, while some aren’t, but that’s okay. We all need a sweet treat!

It is very important to ensure we get all the nutrients we need during the winter season to fight off colds and illnesses. However, it is okay to let yourself break free and have something that is not so healthy.

I have put together a combination of my favorite healthy winter snacks and more sweet-treat winter snacks.

Peanut Butter Cookies

These warm peanut butter cookies cross the line between a sweet treat and a healthy snack. They are made with all-natural ingredients and are the perfect cozy snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Then, in a bowl, combine the peanut butter, egg, honey, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt.

Mix until well combined. Try the batter to see if it’s good!

Scoop the dough balls about the size of a tablespoon and place them onto your baking sheet.

Flatten each cookie with a fork, creating that crisscross pattern to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

Pop them in the oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden brown. All these cookies cool a bit before enjoying. Enjoy these delicious peanut butter snacks!

Pretzel Snowflakes

These fall under the category of more sugary treats, but it’s okay — everything in moderation! But overall, these pretzel snowflakes are super fun and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • Bag of pretzel mini twists
  • White chocolate or candy melts
  • White sprinkles or edible glitter

Start by melting your white chocolate or candy melts according to the directions on the bag.

Then, place down a piece of wax paper and arrange your pretzels onto it in a snowflake shape. You should use around six pretzel twists per snowflake.

Then, get a spoon and drizzle the chocolate over your pretzels. Make sure to cover where the pretzels connect with the chocolate and hold them together for a few seconds, so they stick.

While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your edible glitter or sprinkles over the snowflakes so they stick to the chocolate. All your chocolate on the snowflakes to harden before removing it from the wax paper. Enjoy these fun and easy pretzel snacks!

Easy Queso Dip

Easy Queso Dip

Warm dips are so good on a cold day, and this queso dip is so quick and easy to make the perfect snack. Just like pretzels, they are not very healthy, but they are delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 16-ounce block of velvet cheese cubed
  • 1 10-ounce can of diced tomatoes with green chillies

Start by combining the cubed velvet cheese and the tomatoes in a large microwave-safe bowl. Do not drain the tomatoes; you will need the juice for flavor.

Microwave on high for around 2-3 minutes. Stir and continue to microwave for a minute, stirring each minute until the cheese is melted. Serve warm with pretzels, tortilla chips, or pita chips.

If that wasn’t the easiest question, then I don’t know what it is. Enjoy!

Sweet Potato Bites

Sweet potatoes are my favorite vegetable; they’re nutritious foods that taste like desserts. These sweet potato bites are nutritious snacks and are so delicious with all healthy ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes peeled and chopped into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • salt to taste

Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, in a large bowl, toss together your sweet potato cubes, olive oil, salt, and cinnamon.

Spread the potato cubes out on a baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes. Turn them halfway through the baking process and take them out when they are golden brown.

Once they are out of the oven, drizzle honey over them for extra sweetness. Enjoy this healthy snack that tastes like a dessert!

Winter is the perfect time to slow down, cozy up, and indulge in comforting snacks.

Remember, comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to make you feel good.
