With winter here and the New Year approaching, everyone has their resolutions for what they want to do better this year.
If your New Year resolution is to eat healthier and drop a few pounds, then you are in the right place because I will show you healthy desserts to help you achieve your fitness goals in 2025.
Sweet cravings are always difficult to overcome when you are trying to eat healthier. That’s why I have three of my favorite healthier sweet treats for you to enjoy on a cold day.
Healthy Dessert Recipes
Ice Cream:
The first healthy dessert we have is ice cream. Ice cream is my favorite dessert and one of my favorite foods, so it can be very hard to cut it out of my diet when I am trying to be healthy.
That is why I made a healthy version of ice cream you can enjoy while losing weight this winter.
If you want to start making healthy ice cream a lot, I recommend getting a Ninja Creami, but if you don’t have one, you can use a blender.
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp of either honey or maple syrup
- 1 scoop of protein powder
Start by blending your bananas until creamy. To make your ice cream more creamy, you can add some low-fat milk. Then, add your vanilla extract and mix.
After that, you will add your natural sweetness. Natural sweeteners are always better because they save calories and are not processed, unlike regular sugar. My favorite is honey, but you could also use monk fruit or stevia.
Lastly, add your protein powder. Protein is crucial when trying to lose weight. It helps you build muscle and keeps you full longer. The best protein powder to use is flavored. I like using a vanilla one, but that’s up to you!
If you want your ice cream to have a specific flavor, you can always add an extract, such as mint or vanilla. Freeze this for at least 5 hours, then enjoy your healthy ice cream!
Mug Cake
If you’re looking for a cozy winter dessert for the colder months, then mug cakes are perfect. This mug cake we are making will be a chocolate mug cake that can pair perfectly with healthy ice cream. It is full of protein, and I will show you how to make it.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup almond flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
- 3 tbsp of almond milk or low-fat milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
Mix your almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and protein powder until combined. I like to use almond flour because it’s low-carb.
After that, mix the honey, coconut oil, milk, and vanilla extract until combined. Then, combine the two mixtures in a mug and mix them. You can add a few chocolate chips, which is what I do.
Microwave for 1 minute and enjoy this delicious, healthy chocolate mug cake!
Peanut Butter Cookies
One of my favorite delicious winter dessert recipes to make is cookies. They are perfect warm desserts that make you feel at home.
Peanut butter and cookies are so delicious,s and they make a great combination. But eating peanut butter cookies might not be the best option when trying to be healthy or lose a few pounds. So here is a healthy, low-calorie, more nutritionally-valued peanut butter cookie.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of natural peanut butter (no added sugar or oil)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Start by combining your peanut butter, honey, and egg. Mix well until combined. Then, add your baking soda, vanilla extract, and salt and mix until combined.
Once your cookies are mixed, roll them into balls about the size of a tablespoon and place them on a baking sheet or cookie sheet. Make sure your oven is heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
Let these cool, and then serve to eat them. Enjoy your healthy peanut butter cookies. You could also add some chocolate chips to them if you’d like.
Strawberry Greek Yogurt Bars
This strawberry Greek yogurt bark is full of protein and is the perfect pick-me-up snack or sweet treat after dinner. It’s made with simple ingredients that you can find around your house.
Ingredients
- 3 cups of vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cups of honey
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups of sliced strawberries
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Start by putting your Greek yogurt in a bowl along with the honey and vanilla extract. Mix until all combined. The vanilla extract and honey act as a sweetener to the yogurt.
Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread your yogurt mixture over the parchment paper. After you have done that, take your sliced strawberries and layer them all over the yogurt. Then, take your chocolate chips and sprinkle them over the yogurt; I like adding the chocolate chips because they add sweetness.
Put this yogurt bark in the freezer for up to 3 hours. Once done, take it out of the freezer and cut it into 32 pieces. How you enjoy this low-calorie treat!
Tips on losing weight:
- Portion control. Portion control is super important because if you cut out your favorite foods like pizza and cake, you’re more likely to binge on them later. So, with portion control, you allow yourself to have a little bit of everything to stop your craving and prevent later binging.
- Easy swaps. You can easily start swapping foods you have in your house, like chips, for popcorn that has lower calories. This is a great way to lose weight.
- Nutritional value. Start going for foods that have more nutritional value to them and that will help you in the long run. Think about the benefits the food will give you before you eat it, like if it will give you good benefits or bad ones.
I hope you make one of these delicious desserts this winter while trying to be healthier!
