Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups cubed stale bread (gluten-free bread for the gluten-free version)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss the cubed bread with olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the bread cubes in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bread cubes are golden brown and dry throughout.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
- Once cool, pulse the bread cubes in a food processor until you achieve the desired crumb size – fine for stuffing, coarse for toppings.
- Store leftover breadcrumbs in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to a week.
