  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional 
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs like chopped rosemary and basil
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tableepopn balsamic glaze: optional, for added sweetness
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Adjust the ratio to taste, but starting with 1/2 cup of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar provides a balanced flavor profile.
  2. Add Garlic. Mince the fresh garlic cloves and add them to the oil and vinegar mixture.
  3. Sprinkle in the kosher salt and black pepper to enhance the overall flavor. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  4. Finely chop the fresh rosemary and basil, and stir them into the mixture.
  5. Optional Enhancements
    • Parmesan Cheese: Grate some Parmesan cheese over the mixture for an extra layer of salty, nutty flavor.
    • Balsamic Glaze: Drizzle in some balsamic glaze for added sweetness.
    • Cherry Tomatoes: Add halved cherry tomatoes for a burst of flavor and color.
